The Thoughts That Set Us Free

What’s one thought that helps you find your way back?

Here are a few that help me.

When I’m Anxious
For uncertainty, fear, catastrophizing.

  • I don't need to know the answers. I don’t know, and can't possibly know, what's going to happen in the future.

  • I'm okay.

  • This is the way it is. For right now. And it will change.

  • Thoughts are real, but they're not necessarily true.

When I’m Trying to Control Everything
For gripping, forcing, and resisting.

  • Ease is information.

  • I wonder what happens if I stop pushing so hard?

  • Sometimes life surprises me when I stop trying to control it.

  • If I’m creating some of this stress, I can create less of it.

When I’m Impatient
For Trusting the Unfolding.

  • Not everything needs to happen today.

  • Change is happening, even when I can’t see it.

  • I keep my eyes on the direction, and let the path unfold.

  • I stay open to possibilities I couldn’t have planned.

When I Need Perspective
For Remembering the Bigger Picture.

  • This is part of being human. I’m not alone, and this moment won't last forever.

  • I can use my breath and my body to help myself feel better, and I always have them with me.

  • I may not know how things will work out, but I trust myself to handle whatever comes my way.

  • Gratitude and appreciation help me notice how much is already here.
